Fra global til lokal
Hindi lokalisering
Som du sikkert allerede ved, findes der ikke bare ét universelt hindi sprog. Mange engelske ord og vendinger kan være specifikke for et bestemt område, og vil være lige så fremmede for en hinditalende person udenfor dette område, som ord fra mandarin eller dothraki. På den anden side findes der også ord, som kan bruges i alle hinditalende lande, men som har helt forskellige betydninger afhængigt af, hvilket land du opholder dig i.
Lokalisering rækker ud over almindelig oversættelse.
Cultural knowledge
Hindi language history
The Hindi Language is part of the Indo-Aryan group within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family.
Hindi has its roots in the classical Sanskrit language and can be dated back to the 11th century. The language acquired its current form over many centuries, and numerous dialectical variations still exist. Like Sanskrit, Hindi is written in the Dev Nagari script, which is common to several other Indian languages as well. Much of the vocabulary of Hindi comes from Sanskrit, though Hindi also has a lot of influences from other languages, such as Arabic, Persian, Portuguese and English and especially Urdu with which it shares a special relationship.
When the British colonised India in the 18th through the 19th century, they were on the lookout for a widely-spoken language they could use for administration. Thus, Hindi became the official language of India on January 26, 1965. However, English and 21 other languages are recognised as official languages by the Constitution of India.
A gateway to new business markets
Hindi is a global language
The Hindi language is the official language of India and a recognized minority language in the United Arab Emirates. Hindi derives its name from the Persian word “hind” which means the “land of the Indus River.” The Persian speaking Turks who invaded the Gangetic Plain and Punjab In the early 11th century named the language spoken along the Indus riverbank “Hindi".
Hindi is the first language to about 425 million people and the second language to 120 million. The largest number of Hindi-Speaking people is in India. Approximately 422 million Indians (40%) speak Hindi as the first or second language. Apart from India, Hindi is also spoken in other countries including Mauritius, Suriname, Nepal, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, and South Africa.

Languages Spoken in India
India is a land rich in languages. Depending on the definition, the number of languages is thought to exceed a thousand. In fact, India is one of the few countries that does not have a national language, though both English and Hindi are the official languages of India used by the government – and the language spoken or at least understood by most of its inhabitants, is Hindi.
Hundreds of languages and dialects co-exist, some of them spoken by only a few hundred people. While it’s not unusual for several different languages to be spoken in one country, India is fairly uncommon not only through the number of languages but also their diversity, as not all the languages belong to the same language group.
Language differences
Hindi vs. Urdu
Linguists think of Hindi and Urdu as the same language, the difference being that Hindi is written in Devanagari script, while Urdu is written in Persian script and draws on Persian and Arabic. The separation is largely a political one. Before the partition of India into India and Pakistan, spoken Hindi and Urdu were considered the same language. Both Urdu and Hindi are considered registers of Hindustani - two versions of the same language, much like British English and American English are both registers of English.
They mostly have the same grammar, but differ greatly in vocabulary, with Hindi borrowing much more heavily from Classical Sanskrit while Urdu borrowed more from Persian. Nevertheless, the differences are more evident in the literary register than in everyday speech and both speakers will have no problem understanding each other.

Translation prices
Hindi translation costs
When calculating translation prices and rates, we always look into each case individually. Complexity, volume, time frame, translation tools used, file type and other more specific needs all come into consideration for us to offer you top quality service at the best price. Although Hindi is a widely spoken language, the alphabet is unique. A translation into Hindi will require more resources, and it is important to consider that the different alphabet may affect the design and layout of your text. Of course, the price will also depend on the source language and the availability of translators for that particular language combination. All projects are assigned to professional translators that are experts within the concerned fields, and they make sure to do the necessary research to understand the purpose, target audience, context and tone of voice of the original texts, so that these key elements come across in the final outcome.
